Ideal Usage Scenario

How Bardy Enhances Your Game

Start Your Session

  • Upon launching the app, Bardy should automatically start playing music and ambiance. The initial mood and location settings should be set to Casual and Unspecified.

  • Bardy will begin listening for cues immediately.

Play and Let Bardy Handle the Rest

  • As you narrate the game, Bardy will adjust the music accordingly.

    • Enter a bustling city? Bardy cues up a lively marketplace tune.

    • Exploring a crypt? Expect eerie, suspenseful tracks to kick in.

  • Location updates: For best results, use phrases that imply the players have moved into a new area.

    • “You enter the dense forest which eventually gives way to an open clearing.”

    • “You push open the heavy tavern door, greeted by the warmth of a roaring fire and the chatter of patrons.”

    • “The party steps into the temple, their footsteps echoing through the ancient, shadowed halls.”

  • Mood updates: For best results, use phrases that that describe the vibe of the area.

    • “The dark cave feels eerie and unsettling.”

    • “The carnival is filled with musicians playing festive tunes.”

    • “The store has a calm and relaxed vibe.”

  • If necessary, feel free to give Bardy specific cues.

    • “The mood is now casual.”

    • “Sir Bardy, we are in a dungeon.”

Combat & High-Stakes Moments

  • When the GM says “Roll Initiative!”, Bardy immediately switches to the Fighting mood, and battle music will ensue.

    • To prevent unintentionally triggering the Fighting mood—such as when a player says, “I attack the chest to break it open”—Fighting is only activated by phrases like “roll initiative” or “everyone roll your initiative.”

  • Unless you manually select otherwise, Bardy will only trigger Lamenting or Victory mood while the Fighting mood is active.

    • Victory: triggered with phrases like “they are all dead,” or “you’ve defeated the last one, congrats!”

    • Lamenting: triggered with phrases like “sadly, one of your companions has died.

    • After a Lamenting or Victory song plays to completion, the mood will switch back to whatever was active prior to Fighting being triggered.
